MQ Silicone Resin for Release Agent CAS 67763-19-3, Low-Surface-Energy MQ Resin for Mold Release & Anti-Fouling Coating

MQ Silicone Resin for Release Agent CAS 67763‑19‑3 is M‑Q structured methyl silicone resin synthesized by co‑hydrolysis and polycondensation of methyl silane and tetrafunctional silicate monomers. Controlled M/Q ratio endows the resin with low surface energy and good film‑forming capacity. It is incorporated into solvent‑based or solvent‑free release agent systems, building uniform hydrophobic release coating on mold surfaces, serving for rubber, plastic and composite molding as well as anti‑fou

MQ Silicone Resin for Release Agent CAS 67763‑19‑3, Low‑Surface‑Energy MQ Resin for Mold Release & Anti‑Fouling Coating

This release‑grade MQ silicone resin is produced via controlled co‑hydrolysis and polycondensation of methyl alkoxysilane and tetraalkoxysilane starting materials. The molecular network consists of monofunctional M‑units and tetrafunctional Q‑units. The M/Q molar ratio is precisely adjusted during synthesis to balance film‑forming property, hardness and hydrophobic performance. Compact three‑dimensional siloxane macromolecules endow the resin with inherent low‑surface‑energy characteristics derived from methyl‑rich side groups.

Different from linear silicone fluids, the rigid cross‑linked MQ resin structure improves the mechanical strength of the cured release film. It suppresses excessive migration and bleeding of silicone components. After solvent evaporation or thermal curing, the resin forms a continuous, tough hydrophobic silicone membrane on metallic mold surfaces. This thin membrane reduces interfacial adhesion between mold and hot molded substrates such as rubber, thermoset plastic and fiber‑reinforced composites, so that molded parts can be demolded with lower release force.

For mold‑release agent formulations, this MQ resin is compounded with silicone oil, solvent and auxiliary additives. It improves the durability of the release layer. Compared with simple silicone‑oil‑only release agents, the MQ‑modified release coating can sustain multiple successive molding cycles before re‑spraying is required. It reduces the frequency of mold cleaning and alleviates accumulation of carbon residues and polymer deposits on mold cavity surfaces.

For anti‑fouling coating applications, the resin builds a smooth hydrophobic silicone surface layer. It inhibits adhesion of resin residues, dust and viscous contaminants. The anti‑fouling coating is applicable for metal equipment surfaces and structural parts exposed to sticky media.

This resin exhibits favorable solubility in aromatic hydrocarbon solvents and selected silicone fluids. Proper curing temperature is critical during release‑film formation. Insufficient baking temperature results in weak film strength; the release layer will be easily transferred onto molded workpieces and cause surface defects on finished products. Excessive baking may induce thermal degradation of the silicone resin.

During release‑agent compounding, sufficient stirring is necessary to achieve complete dissolution of MQ silicone resin. Undissolved resin particles will create uneven release coating, generating localized sticking points on mold cavities. Formulation dosage needs optimization: excessive resin addition produces an overly brittle release film prone to cracking; insufficient loading cannot deliver durable multi‑cycle release performance.

The product requires hermetically sealed storage under cool and dry conditions. Avoid prolonged exposure to humid air. Prevent cross‑contamination with reactive functional silicone raw materials during material handling, which may lead to unwanted cross‑linking inside release‑agent solutions. This low‑surface‑energy MQ silicone resin is a dedicated modifying raw material for mold‑release agent and industrial anti‑fouling coating systems.
