MQ Silicone Resin for Silicone Pressure Sensitive Adhesive CAS 67763‑19‑3, High‑Tack PSA MQ Resin for Label Tape & Protective Film

This dedicated PSA‑grade MQ silicone resin is manufactured via controlled co‑hydrolysis and polycondensation of methyl alkoxysilane and tetraalkoxysilane precursors. The molecular structure is built from monofunctional M‑units and tetrafunctional Q‑units to form compact three‑dimensional silicone macromolecules. The M/Q molar ratio is strictly regulated during production. This critical parameter directly governs resin‑gum compatibility, initial tack, peel adhesion and cohesive strength of the final silicone pressure‑sensitive adhesive.

The working mechanism relies on physical blending and intermolecular siloxane interactions between rigid MQ resin domains and flexible high‑molecular‑weight silicone gum. After solvent evaporation, the two‑phase system forms a homogeneous adhesive matrix. Rigid MQ resin segments raise the glass‑transition temperature of the adhesive phase, while long silicone gum chains provide rubber‑like elasticity. The synergistic effect balances viscoelastic behavior, which is the fundamental prerequisite for qualified pressure‑sensitive adhesion.

In silicone label tape formulations, this MQ tackifying resin improves initial quick‑stick property and moderate peel strength. The cured adhesive maintains stable bonding performance under elevated service temperature and resists adhesive transfer onto difficult‑to‑stick low‑surface‑energy substrates such as fluoroplastic.

For high‑temperature silicone adhesive tape used in electronics manufacturing, the resin enhances cohesive strength at high temperature and reduces adhesive creep, preventing tape displacement during thermal processing. When applied for silicone protective film, it provides mild, controllable tack strength. The protective‑film adhesive layer can be cleanly peeled off without leaving residual adhesive contamination on delicate substrate surfaces.

The resin demonstrates excellent solubility in aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, xylene, toluene and silicone fluids. Residual volatile content of the resin must be strictly controlled. Excess volatile fractions will cause bubble formation inside the dried adhesive layer during high‑temperature drying of adhesive coating.

During PSA production, the MQ resin and silicone gum need to be fully dissolved under stirring within the selected solvent to obtain a homogeneous adhesive base solution. Insufficient dissolution will generate micro‑aggregates, resulting in surface defects such as pinholes, granular spots and uneven tack distribution on the coated adhesive layer. The mass ratio of MQ resin to silicone gum is the most vital formulation variable. Higher resin loading delivers stronger tack and cohesion, but excessive dosage makes the adhesive too hard and brittle; insufficient resin content leads to poor holding power and severe cold flow of the adhesive layer.

The product should be stored hermetically in cool and dry warehouse conditions. Humid storage environment should be avoided to prevent slow moisture‑induced molecular‑weight shift. Cross‑contamination with reactive functional‑grade silicone resins must be avoided during material handling, which would cause unexpected cross‑linking and premature gelation inside PSA coating solutions. This PSA‑grade MQ silicone resin is the indispensable tackifying raw material for manufacturing silicone label tape, high‑temperature resistant silicone tape and silicone‑based protective film.
