Hydroxy MQ Silicone Resin Silanol-Functional CAS 67763-19-3, Condensation-Cure MQ Resin for Weatherable Coating & Adhesive

Hydroxy MQ Silicone Resin CAS 67763‑19‑3 is a silanol‑containing M‑Q structured silicone resin prepared by co‑hydrolysis and polycondensation of silane monomers. Free silanol (‑Si‑OH) groups are retained on the three‑dimensional resin network. Under organotin or titanate catalyst, silanol groups proceed with dehydration condensation curing. Hydroxy MQ Silicone Resin Silanol‑Functional CAS 67763‑19‑3, Condensation‑Cure MQ Resin for Weatherable Coating & Adhesive

This silanol‑functional hydroxy MQ silicone resin is synthesized via controlled co‑hydrolysis and polycondensation of methyl silane and tetrafunctional silicate monomers. Partial condensation is deliberately controlled during manufacturing, leaving a defined amount of reactive silanol (Si‑OH) groups distributed on the M‑Q three‑dimensional macromolecular framework. The residual silanol content can be adjusted through process parameters to satisfy different formulation requirements for silicone coatings and condensation‑type adhesives.

Distinct from inert methyl MQ resin, the free silanol groups enable this resin to undergo dehydration‑condensation cross‑linking. Curing proceeds in the presence of organotin, titanium chelate or amine‑based condensation catalysts. It can self‑condense, or condense with hydroxyl‑terminated linear silicone polymers to build integrated silicone cross‑linked networks. The rigid MQ resin segments are chemically incorporated into the final cured matrix, instead of simple physical blending.

For weatherable silicone coating applications, the resin acts as a primary film‑forming component. It increases coating surface hardness, scratch resistance, thermal stability and outdoor anti‑UV weathering performance. The cured silicone coating resists yellowing upon long‑term outdoor exposure and slows down chalking degradation. For silicone adhesive systems, silanol‑functional MQ resin improves cohesive strength, high‑temperature holding power and substrate bonding performance, especially on glass, metal and mineral substrates.

The resin shows good solubility in aromatic solvents, aliphatic solvents and selected silicone fluids. Humidity plays an important role during condensation curing. Proper ambient moisture accelerates the cross‑linking reaction, whereas extremely dry conditions may lead to slower surface‑through curing speed. Catalyst dosage needs careful calibration; excessive catalyst will shorten the pot‑life of coating or adhesive, while insufficient catalyst results in incomplete curing and inferior film properties.

During formulation processing, sufficient stirring is required to achieve homogeneous dissolution or dispersion of hydroxy MQ resin within base silicone polymer solutions. High‑humidity storage before compounding should be avoided, because premature self‑condensation of silanol groups will raise resin viscosity and generate partial gel particles, causing film defects in finished coatings and adhesives.

The product requires hermetically sealed, cool and dry storage. Strictly avoid prolonged exposure to humid air. During material transfer and batching operations, cross‑contamination with vinyl‑functional or hydrogen‑containing MQ silicone resin must be prevented, which would introduce unexpected side‑reactions inside condensation‑cure formulations. This silanol‑functional hydroxy MQ silicone resin serves as key film‑forming and modifying raw material for outdoor weatherable silicone coatings and condensation‑cure silicone adhesives.
