DOTP (Dioctyl Terephthalate, CAS 6422‑86‑2) is a non‑phthalate primary plasticizer widely used for flexible PVC formulations. It exhibits favorable low‑temperature flexibility and excellent resistance against soap and aqueous alkaline medium extraction. With good general plasticizing efficiency and lower volatility, this product fits general‑purpose PVC compounds and toy articles, serving as a practical alternative to conventional ortho‑phthalate plasticizers.
Product DetailsDOTP is a clear, colorless to pale‑yellow oily liquid. Although chemically classified as a terephthalate ester, it differs structurally from ortho‑phthalate plasticizers. It delivers effective softening for PVC resin and reduces the glass‑transition temperature of PVC matrix. It offers balanced volatility performance during high‑temperature PVC processing including extrusion, calendaring and injection molding.
A key performance feature is its soap‑resistant property. When finished PVC products are exposed to soapy water or weak alkaline cleaning solutions, the plasticizer shows improved resistance to liquid extraction, which slows down hardening of PVC goods upon repeated washing. It also retains acceptable flexibility under low‑temperature conditions, preventing finished toy components from becoming brittle in cold environments.
This plasticizer can be used alone as the primary plasticizer for general‑grade flexible PVC. It can also be compounded with adipate‑based cold‑resistant co‑plasticizers or polymeric plasticizers to further optimize low‑temperature performance and anti‑migration characteristics. For toy production, the whole formulation system of stabilizers and auxiliary additives should be selected to satisfy corresponding toy safety specifications.
It is applicable for general flexible PVC parts, soft toy components, PVC sheets and household flexible articles. During compounding, suitable thermal stabilizers are required to suppress thermal decomposition of PVC at high processing temperatures.
Store the material in tightly‑sealed drums within cool, dry and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Wear protective gloves and safety goggles during material transfer and handling. Prevent liquid spillage and ground contamination.
