The linear aliphatic molecular structure endows the plasticizer with outstanding cold‑resistance performance. It enables finished PVC parts to keep soft and ductile at low ambient temperatures, avoiding brittleness, cracking and fracture under cold impact.

Its heat resistance and anti‑migration capacity are moderate when compared with phthalate or polymeric plasticizers. For this reason, adipate ester is commonly deployed as a co‑plasticizer rather than the sole primary plasticizer in most PVC formulations. It is compatible with PVC resin and can be blended with phthalates, terephthalates and polymeric plasticizers to adjust overall formulation properties.

Target end‑uses include flexible food‑contact PVC packaging films, food sealing gaskets, cold‑resistant flexible tubing, and other low‑temp soft PVC articles working in cold storage or low‑temperature outdoor environments. For food‑contact applications, relevant formulation components including heat stabilizers should be selected carefully to satisfy corresponding food‑contact regulatory standards.
