Wet Ground Mica Powder (Muscovite) is manufactured from natural muscovite ore through wet grinding, purification, classification and silane coupling‑agent surface modification. The wet‑grinding technology well preserves the original large lamellar sheet‑like crystal structure of mica. After silane surface treatment, the mica flakes obtain favorable interfacial compatibility with polymer matrix. This mineral filler serves for plastic reinforcement, effectively lowering molding shrinkage, minimizi
Product DetailsThis wet ground muscovite mica adopts wet milling production procedure instead of dry crushing. Gentle wet grinding protects the complete lamellar flake morphology of mica, avoiding excessive fragmentation of sheet‑shaped crystals. After wet milling, the slurry is purified, filtered, dried and air‑classified to remove fine impurities and oversized particles. Subsequently, silane coupling agent is applied onto flake surfaces for controlled surface modification.
Untreated wet‑ground mica is hydrophilic. When directly compounded with non‑polar thermoplastics, poor interfacial adhesion between mica flakes and resin matrix may lead to inadequate mechanical performance and poor dispersion inside plastic compounds. Silane modification changes the surface characteristics of mica flakes to organophilic, improving wettability with molten plastics during extrusion compounding. It strengthens interfacial bonding at mineral‑polymer boundaries.
Thanks to its large flat lamellar structure inside the plastic matrix, overlapping mica flakes form a physical barrier network. This network restricts molecular movement of polymer chains under heating, which significantly reduces molding shrinkage, suppresses thermal warpage and elevates heat‑deflection temperature of plastic parts. The product features stable particle‑size distribution, low iron content and consistent whiteness. It improves flexural modulus and tensile strength of modified plastics without causing severe abrasion to processing equipment compared with chopped glass fiber.
Typical application fields include PP, PA, PBT and other reinforced engineering plastics, injection‑molded electrical housings, automotive interior plastic parts, precision plastic structural components that demand low shrinkage and high dimensional stability.
Packaging is 25 kg moisture‑proof woven bags with inner polyethylene liner. Keep packages tightly sealed in transportation and storage. Store in cool, dry warehouse to avoid moisture absorption and flake agglomeration. Do not stack pallets excessively high to prevent bag rupture. Wear dust‑proof masks and protective gloves during powder‑handling operations.
