Fluorosilane‑Modified Mica Powder (Muscovite) is produced from natural muscovite ore through fine wet‑ground milling, purification, classification and fluorosilane surface modification. The lamellar sheet‑shaped mica substrate retains excellent physical barrier characteristics, while fluorosilane surface treatment imparts both hydrophobic and oleophobic properties. This functional mineral filler is specially developed for low‑surface‑energy coating formulations. It improves water‑oil repellency,
Product DetailsThis muscovite mica raw material undergoes controlled fine wet grinding to preserve intact lamellar flake morphology. After purification and multi‑stage air classification to eliminate coarse particles and mineral impurities, the mica flakes proceed to fluorosilane surface modification procedure. The fluorosilane molecules are chemically anchored onto the mica flake surface, forming a uniform fluorinated surface layer.
Untreated muscovite mica shows hydrophilic characteristics. When incorporated into special low‑surface‑energy coating systems, poor interfacial compatibility leads to poor dispersion, surface defects and insufficient barrier performance of the cured coating. The fluorosilane modification lowers the surface energy of mica flakes. The modified powder exhibits both water‑repellent and oil‑repellent features, and delivers greatly improved affinity with fluoropolymer and other low‑surface‑energy resin binders.
The overlapping lamellar mica flakes inside the coating film form a tortuous diffusion path, slowing the penetration of water vapor, liquid water, grease and corrosive media. This significantly enhances the anti‑corrosion and anti‑staining performance of the finished coating. The product maintains stable particle‑size distribution, low iron content and good chemical inertness. It also improves surface hardness and scratch‑resistance of coating films without negatively affecting leveling property when applied within recommended dosage range.
It is suitable for fluorocarbon coatings, anti‑graffiti topcoats, low‑surface‑energy industrial protective coatings, self‑cleaning architectural coatings and special anti‑stain finishing paints.
Packaging adopts 25 kg moisture‑proof woven bags with inner polyethylene liner. Keep packages tightly sealed during transportation and warehouse storage. Store in cool, dry indoor warehouse, avoid moisture absorption and flake agglomeration. Do not stack pallets excessively high to prevent bag rupture. Wear dust‑proof masks and protective gloves during powder‑handling operations.
