Sodium Secondary Alkane Sulfonate CAS 68037‑49‑0 is an anionic liquid antistatic agent designed for multiple thermoplastic polymers. It supports two application modes: internal compounding during plastic processing and external surface treatment for finished plastic articles. When used as an internal additive, it disperses inside polymer matrix and slowly migrates to the product surface to form a hydrophilic conductive layer. For external treatment, it can be diluted and applied onto plastic sur
Product DetailsThis anionic sulfonate‑based antistatic agent features homogeneous liquid appearance. Its amphiphilic molecular structure includes hydrophobic long‑chain alkane segments and hydrophilic sulfonate sodium ionic groups, which are responsible for static dissipating functionality.
For internal addition mode, the liquid additive can be directly metered during extrusion, calendering or injection compounding, or pre‑fabricated into antistatic masterbatch. After thermal processing, active molecules gradually migrate toward the plastic surface. The hydrophilic sulfonate groups capture minor moisture from surrounding atmosphere to build a continuous conductive thin film, lowering surface resistivity and restraining static charge accumulation as well as dust adhesion on finished plastic components.
For external surface treatment, the product can be diluted with suitable solvent or water, then applied by spraying, dipping or wiping onto molded plastic parts. It forms a thin temporary conductive surface coating to provide instant antistatic effect. The external treatment effect is less durable compared with permanent internal compounding and may gradually wear off with surface friction.
Application compatibility needs careful evaluation. Since it belongs to anionic surfactant, direct mixing with cationic quaternary‑ammonium additives will trigger precipitation and flocculation. Its antistatic efficiency is humidity‑dependent; performance will drop significantly in extremely dry environments. Excessive internal dosage may cause surface blooming, stickiness, deterioration of surface gloss, and impair printing or hot‑stamping performance of plastic parts.
Recommended dosage for internal incorporation ranges from 0.6 wt%‑2.1 wt% based on total polymer weight. For external surface treatment, working concentration generally falls between 2‑12% after dilution. Pre‑production laboratory testing is strongly required to verify thermal stability during polymer processing, surface resistivity, blooming tendency, surface gloss and post‑processing printing behaviour before mass manufacturing.
Store in tightly sealed containers within cool, dry and ventilated warehouse. Avoid sustained high‑temperature storage that may cause darkening of liquid. Prevent foreign impurities and water contamination. Reseal containers promptly after partial discharge to guarantee consistent quality of remaining stock.
