IM800 is maleic anhydride grafted polyolefin toughener in pellet form, designed specifically for cold-resistant nylon formulations. Grafted MAH functional groups react with amine end-groups of PA resin during twin-screw extrusion to create strong interfacial bonding. Its customized elastic polyolefin backbone retains flexibility under low-temperature conditions, delivering outstanding low-temperature impact performance. IM800 effectively reduces brittle fracture risk of PA components in cold env
Product Detail PageChemical IdentityIM800 is maleic anhydride (MAH) grafted polyolefin manufactured through reactive graft modification. Supplied as free-flowing pellets for stable feeding in twin-screw extrusion lines. The MAH functional groups on polyolefin chains react chemically with terminal amine groups of PA6 and PA66 at melt compounding temperature, forming covalent bonds between polyamide matrix and rubber phase. The specially selected low-glass-transition polyolefin maintains elasticity at sub-zero temperatures. It exhibits good thermal stability under standard nylon melt processing conditions without thermal degradation during extrusion and injection molding.
Key PerformanceThe elastic polyolefin phase absorbs impact energy efficiently even under low-temperature service conditions. MAH grafting enhances interfacial adhesion between rubber phase and polyamide matrix, preventing interface separation and blocking crack propagation at cold temperatures. IM800 significantly raises notched impact strength of PA compounds in low-temperature environments and lowers the tendency of brittle cracking. It maintains balanced tensile property and heat deflection temperature in properly formulated PA systems. It provides consistent toughening performance in continuous extrusion production for glass fiber filled and neat nylon grades.
ApplicationsIM800 is applied to PA6, PA66 neat polyamide and glass fiber reinforced PA compounds requiring cold resistance. Typical finished products include outdoor mechanical parts, automotive exterior and undercarriage nylon components, electrical enclosures working in cold regions, and pipeline fittings subjected to low temperature impact. It is suitable for formulations where components need to withstand sudden shock under freezing conditions. It can be used for halogen-free nylon compounds for electrical applications.
Storage & HandlingStore IM800 pellets in sealed original bags inside cool, dry and ventilated warehouse. Recommended storage temperature 10-30℃. Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent pellet caking. Anti-static protection is needed during pellet conveying and feeding operations. Once the bag is opened, consume pellets quickly to avoid moisture absorption. Do not stack pallets too high to avoid pellet crushing under heavy load.
