Aluminum Hydroxide ATH (Aluminium Trihydrate) CAS 21645-51-2, Silane-Coated HFFR Flame Retardant Filler for Cable Compounds

Aluminum Hydroxide ATH (Aluminium Trihydrate) is a halogen‑free mineral flame‑retardant powder subjected to silane coupling‑agent surface coating. It endothermically releases crystal water at elevated temperature to restrain flame spread and reduce smoke density during burning. The silane surface treatment improves interfacial bonding with polyolefin‑based resin matrix. This filler is developed for HFFR cable compounds, helping cable manufacturers achieve low‑smoke, halogen‑free fire‑safety perf

Product DetailsThis silane‑coated aluminium trihydrate is manufactured by controlled precipitation, filtering, drying, fine classification and continuous silane surface modification. Strict particle‑size control delivers a well‑distributed powder fraction, eliminating coarse grit particles that would scratch extrusion equipment or damage cable surface finish. The core flame‑retardant mechanism relies on endothermic decomposition above approximately 200℃, releasing crystal water to cool the burning zone and dilute flammable gas; meanwhile, residual aluminium‑oxide residue forms a dense char barrier layer to hinder further thermal decomposition of the polymer substrate. Raw uncoated ATH features strong hydrophilicity, which tends to cause poor dispersion and degraded mechanical properties within non‑polar polyolefin. The silane coating modifies particle surface characteristics, significantly enhancing compatibility with EVA, LLDPE and other polyolefin resins. It reduces melt viscosity during extrusion, improves compound flowability, and restricts the deterioration of tensile strength and elongation at break of finished HFFR cable sheeting. The product has low heavy‑metal content, low impurity level and stable moisture index, which is critical to avoid bubbling defects on cable sheaths during high‑speed extrusion. When incorporated into HFFR cable formulations, it helps the finished cable meet low‑smoke, zero‑halogen fire‑safety specifications for power cables, communication cables and building wiring. Primary application areas include halogen‑free low‑smoke cable insulation and sheath compounds, wire‑and‑cable thermoplastic elastomer systems, as well as selected rubber flame‑retardant formulations. Packaging adopts 25 kg moisture‑proof woven bags with inner PE liner. Store in cool, dry warehouse, keep tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption. Avoid excessive pallet stacking height to prevent bag rupture and powder caking. Wear dust‑proof mask and protective gloves in handling operations.
