Boehmite Powder (AlOOH) is crystalline aluminium oxy‑hydroxide ceramic powder produced via hydrothermal synthesis, purification, fine grinding and silane surface modification. With excellent high‑temperature stability, low thermal‑expansion and high electrical insulation, this inorganic ceramic powder is designed as functional filler for lithium‑ion battery separator ceramic coating. After silane modification, the powder exhibits better dispersion within water‑based or solvent‑based coating slur
Product DetailsThis silane‑modified boehmite powder is manufactured through controlled hydrothermal crystallization of aluminium‑containing raw materials. After crystallization, the crude boehmite material goes through filtration, washing, drying, ultrafine milling and multi‑stage classification to strictly control particle‑size distribution and eliminate oversized hard particles. Large grit particles must be removed completely to prevent piercing damage to the thin polyolefin separator film during coating processing. Subsequently, silane coupling agent is applied for uniform surface modification on boehmite particle surfaces.
Untreated boehmite powder features strong hydrophilic property. When dispersed in coating slurries containing organic binders, poor interfacial affinity may cause particle agglomeration. Agglomerated particles lead to uneven coating layer, pin‑holes and local brittle zones on the finished ceramic‑coated separator. The silane surface treatment adjusts the surface characteristics of boehmite particles. It improves compatibility with organic binder resins in coating slurry, inhibits particle re‑agglomeration, and promotes homogeneous slurry stability during storage and coating production.
Boehmite maintains stable crystal structure at elevated temperature. It provides rigid ceramic barrier on separator surface. When the battery cell suffers local thermal runaway risk, the ceramic coating layer suppresses thermal shrinkage of the polyolefin separator, delays direct internal short‑circuit between anode and cathode electrodes, and delivers flame‑retardant performance for lithium‑ion cells. The product features low sodium, iron and heavy‑metal impurity levels, controlled narrow particle‑size distribution, consistent whiteness and excellent electrical insulation. Low soluble ion content is essential to avoid adverse side‑reactions inside the sealed lithium‑ion battery cell.
This modified boehmite powder is suitable for water‑based and partial solvent‑based ceramic‑coating slurries for lithium‑ion battery separators, applied in power batteries, energy‑storage batteries and consumer lithium‑ion battery production.
Packaging adopts 25 kg moisture‑proof woven bags with inner polyethylene liner. Keep packages tightly sealed during transportation and warehouse storage. Store in cool, dry and dust‑free warehouse environment, prevent moisture absorption and secondary particle agglomeration. Avoid excessive stacking height on pallets to prevent bag rupture. Wear dust‑proof masks and protective gloves during powder‑handling operations.
